Welcome

Welcome to the PGDE(S) 2006/07 ICT Blog

Our children come to school with some really smart kit in their pockets in the shape of their mobile phones, and what do we do? We make them turn them off! I get fed up when I go to conferences or lectures and the first thing I'm told is to turn my phone off.

I thought it would be fun if the students' first contact with the PGDE(S) course ICT input was technology rich, so I told them to turn their mobile phones on. Obviously they were to turn the sound off - a phone ringing in the middle of a lecture would just be rude. However, one of the things I asked them to do was to use their phone to email a message to an address I gave them. I asked them to share their thoughts and feelings about the lecture as it happened.

I offered to give small, chocolate based prizes for the best blog entries. What do I mean by "best" - well the judge's decision is final and I am the judge! :-)
